Strategic Human Resource Management: Organisational Rhetoric and Individual Reality
Lynda Gratton, Veronica Hope Hailey, Philip Stiles and Catherine Truss
This was my first co-authored book. Our interest was in both the ‘rhetoric’ of organisations (what they were saying about managing people) and the ‘reality’ (how employees were experiencing this).
Based on close collaboration with a number of high-profile organisations, this book sheds light on the organisational responses to large-scale changes and details the changing demands made of employees in the process. It goes beyond fashionable management rhetoric to uncover the reality of human resource management.
